A short story for my Dad
Some years ago, 8 to be exact, I wrote a few short stories. My Dad read them and said I should publish them. I didn’t feel confident enough to go out with them so I filed them under ‘seemed like a good idea at the time’.
Sadly my Dad passed away a few weeks ago. He would have been proud of me if I’d published any of them when he was alive. I missed that opportunity and just tonight came across them when I was doing some system filing.
There’s too many to publish, several that are unfinished because… well just because I ran out of time. But one of them, just a few pages long, grabbed my Dad when he read it. This one was his favourite so I thought, in his memory, I would publish it. Not in the true sense of the word, but just on the good old interweb.
Any comments welcome on this blog. If you do take 5 minutes to read it and you like it, then for my Dad can you tweet it (or email, or facebook or whatever is your current channel of communication ) out to your group of friends. He’d like that.
He’s gone now my old Dad but it would tickle his fancy if ‘his favourite story’ got some popularity – and if he were still around he would take the credit and say ‘See, told you’. Man of few words my Dad.
